Best way to get from Amalfi/Capri to day trip in Pompeii or Herculanium; rental car, bus, etc?

Ellen, you'll get a much better response to your inquiries if you improve the titles -- transportation, transportation2, transportation3 are pretty bad. For this post, it would have been better if you had written "Searching for best method of transportation to get from Amalfi/Capri to Pompeii/Herculanium".

Better yet, incorporate all of your posts together into one post and make the title "Searching for best methods of transportation from (put departure points here) to (put arrival points here).

Without opening your posts, no one can tell from the title what information you need. Also, you don't need to be so brief, your statements are declarative with a question mark at the end of them.

If you can provide more information in the title and in the reply portion, you will get better responses, compared to "mule" as you did in a prior post. Also, being snippy in return (you said something about walking on four legs or feet) will only get you more snippy answers.

It also helps, Ellen, if you look like you have done even minimal research of your own. Like buying and looking at a map, reading a guide book on possible methods of transport, etc.

Thanks for the advise on more complete titles, will incorporate. Snippy wise, snippy evokes snippy.

Ellen, the maximum number of words that you can use in one post, without having to add a supplementary one to a thread is 250 words.

Feel free to be a little bit more verbose and a lot more grateful for the information you are going to get. Brevity is not going to win you a great deal of assistance.

What I am trying to get at is that you are not writing a brief memorandum or a telegram which you have to pay for by the word. You can use this site for free, so feel free to use more words (up to 250 of them), but please write in paragraphs.

If this is a site requirement; I'll be happy to oblige. Otherwise, I have a hospitalized relative and limited time on-line.

While it's not a requirement, it does say, as soon as you click on "Post a New Message":

"Give it a clear, identifying title"

Perhaps Fodors should be clearer in their instructions. Nearly every day, someone posts with "Which hotel?" or "Best Restaurant" or "Itinerary help" (presumably many of these people think that by choosing a country they are at least only posting within one country's posts). A simple clarification from Fodors ("Give it a clear, identifying title, mentioning the city and country") might at least cut down on the too-general titles.

Please post all of your questions in one message! It's so tiring looking at messages entitled "Transportation 1, 2 & 3" now it's "Hotels 1 & 2".
