Transportation to Southhampton Pier

Does anyone have a suggestion as to the best, and most inexpensive way to travel from Gatwick or Heathrow to the Southhampton Pier to catch a ship for the start of a cruise? Would appreciate any help.

I am looking for the same information. Has anyone replied?

There is a through train from Gatwick to Southampton. It runs hourly and takes nearly two hours, but would offer the journey with least hassle. From Southampton station, you would need to get a taxi.

This is a weekday timing. Journeys at weekends might take longer.

From Gatwick to Southampton Central, there is a direct train as Chartley says.
From Heathrow, there are buses direct to Woking station which is on the main railway line from London to Southampton Central.
In both cases, you can see schedules on www.nationalrail.co.uk. Both journeys take about two hours.

From Heathrow, bus from Bus station direct to Southampton, then txsi to the cruise ship terminal. For details, please check: www. nationalexpress.com.

How many of you are there and how much luggage do you have (many people bring a LOT for cruises).

For a group with a lot of luggage to schlep around a hired car may make more sense than dealing with a train and then a taxi.
