Transportation to Milan airport

I will be taking a flight out of Malpensa at 6:45am. When I stayed in Milan before, I stayed near the train station and took the express bus. But I'm not sure it will be running at 5:00am. Anyone have any ideas? Is there an area/hotel I could stay at in the north west of the city where a taxi to the airport would be reasonable? Does any public transportation run that early in the morning?
Your help is most appreciated.

According to the newest Cook's Timetable, the first BUS leaves from Milano Nord Cadorna at 0500 hours (M-S) and that takes 50 minutes. The first train leaves at 0550 and takes 40 minutes.
Looks like you may need to either stay in a hotel closer to the airport or spring for a taxi.

The first bus leaves from Milano CENTRALE at 5 am. The first train leaves from Milano Nord CADORNA at 5.50 am. Both railway station are connected to the subway (lines 1, red, and 3, yellow, for Centrale station and lines 1 and 2, green, for Cadorna station).

With the greatest of respect for Ms. Twain's reply above, Cook's Timetable, the GermanRail on-line schedule site, AND the Malpensa website ALL agree that the rail/bus connections are from Cadorna, NOT from Centrale at that hour of the morning. Sorry, Alice.

Thanks everyone. Looks like I will just take a taxi. Can anyone recommend a hotel in the city for one night. Nothing too extravagant-I'll be checking out at 4:30am!

Bootman, you are right, I didn't consider the very early hour. Buses from Centrale start running a bit later.

We stayed at the Hotel London under very similar circumstances (the very early flight home). Nothing special, but clean and near a pedestrian only area which we liked (lots of outdoor restaurants, etc.). We walked to the Duomo from the hotel. Would not stay there for a long visit to Milan, but two nights worked for us.

[email protected]
