transportation to marco polo airport
 

We are traveling to Venice in November. Our flight out of Venice is 6:50am.(yikes) According to the airline we need to be at the airport 2 hours ahead of time. From what I read the buses don't start running until 5 am and its an approx. 20 min ride to the airport.Is it easy to get a cab at 4:30am from Piazzale Roma? Any other advice would be very helpful.

Easiest and fastest way would be a water taxi. Also the most expensive.

See if your airline can tell you what time their employees open up at Marco Polo in the morning.

We had friends who made a big effort to get to the airport 2 hours before their flight, only to find out that the counter didn't open until 1-1/4 hours before their flight.

thanks for the info rufus. I wondered if it would be a big deal to arrive at airport at say 5:20 instead of 4:50, apparently in some cases it's not. appreciate your help

As Marco Polo airport is tiny, and as it is in Italy (where nobody ever cares about arriving anywhere in time, and where it is absolutely usual that the person with whom you have an appointment would come 45 minutes late), I wouldn't care at all about arriving at 4.50 or at 5.20. In fact, as this airport is so small, it would certainly be sufficient to arrive one hour before the flight leaves, but if you come at 5.20, you are certainly on the safe side.

when i arrived at marco polo airport at 5:15 for the 6:50 flight, the only crowd was at the coffee bar!

appreciate all the input.I feel better about the flight. I was considering leaving out of Rome instead of Venice,but I thought leaving from Venice would be the perfect ending to a hopefully wonderful trip.
