Transportation in Colmar

Is it possible to rent a bike or scooter in Colmar to get to and around Riquewihr, Kaysersberg and Eguisheim? My sister and I want to do a day trip on our own on November 21. I was looking at bus schedules and there's really no connections between these towns. Our alternate plan is to join a tour...thanks!

No doubt there is but perhaps not in November - if there is the Colmar tourist office will be able to answer your questions:

personally being on a bike in a typical damp cool late Nov day would not be my cup of tea

Hi CG,

Are you already experienced cycle or scooter drivers?

Our experience with Alsatian drivers was that they combine German aggressiveness with French indifference to traffic rules.

You can walk from Riquewihr to Kaysersberg, visiting Kientzheim along the way about 3 mi.

Remember - Colmar is farther north than anyplace in the Continental USA. Expect winter conditions.

I was in Colmar last week and it was COLD. And many days very rainy. I would rent a car for a day. Although I am generally an "anti tour" person, we did take a tour in Burgundy and it was fun. At this time of year, there are not as many tourists (as in the summer) and if you go on something in a van vs. a bus then you will have fewer people. I am not sure what your budget is, but if you can swing it, a van tour would be a good option.

Thanks guys! Considering the weather and the many things that could go wrong with renting a vehicle in winter in a foreign country, we've decided to rely on buses. I'm going to see if I can figure out what buses to take. Maybe I'll have to do that once I get there. If buses don't seem like the best option I guess we'll have to shell out the $$ for an organized tour! Thanks!
