Transportation from Peisey Vallandry to Paris
Hi, I'm taking my kids skiing to Peisey Vallandry (first time skiing) at the beginning of April for one week. I want to surprise them by taking them to Paris after the skiing. What is the fastest way to get from Pesey Vallandry to Paris? We are 5 people (4 kids and myself) and would be going on Sunday April 6th. I'd like it to be fast if possible as we only have 2 1/2 days there, and not too expensive.

Given that location, I don't think you can be too picky about the cost as there aren't a lot of choices (other than private limo the whole way, I suppose, which would be most but probably not the fastest). You could fly out of Geneva or Chambery or something, but would have to get to the airport first, so I think that would eat up the whole day, anyway.
Your best bet in terms of speed is the direct TGV from Landry to Paris at 9:21 am that day, you'll arrive in Paris at 2:03 pm. Landry is only 7 km from that ski resort, just take a taxi to the rail station. The TGV fare is about 90 euro for an adult, you won't get cheap fares on that date and route at this time. But you'll pay about that fare just for a bus to get from Peasy to some airport like Geneva, anyway.

Christina, thank you for your reply. I actually looked into a private taxi and got quotes for 1350-1400 euro! That was a shocker. The 90 euro fare seems cheap in comparison...
Still, when you multiply it by 5 or a little less for youth prices, it's still quite expensive for one train ride. That is fast though - I had heard that it took about 6 hours by train to get from Peisey to Paris.
Do you have a second choice for second fastest? Or does anybody else?

I think you are probably being unrealistic regarding train fares. 90 euro is not particularly expensive for a train ride on a TGV for that distance from a small town over on the border of France and Switzerland. You could find some routes that probably did take 6 hours with some connections, which is why I recommended about the only one that was direct as it only takes 4:42 hrs.
Maybe someone else has a solution, but I don't think there is any possible way to get there cheaper than 90 euro a person from that ski resort. It's really in the middle of nowhere, of course, there isn't any major airport close by so you will have to go quite a distance to get to an airport. I doubt if any airfare would be cheaper than 90 euro (say from Geneva or Grenoble to Paris), but even then, the bus to the airport from so far away and the time at the airport could never make it quicker than 4:42 total hours. The bus from that ski resort to Geneva takes about 3.5 hours just in itself.

The bus from the ski resort to Geneva airport costs 82 euro per adult in itself, and takes 3:40 hrs.

Got it Christina. I'm unfamiliar with the area, having never been there, and even more unfamiliar with the train options. Also, the week of skiing is one huge splurge in itself so I was hoping to find a way to add Paris with a reasonable deal. It all adds up. Thanks again for your help - looks like the TGV it will be.
