Transportation from Nice Airport to Aix-en-Provence
We are flying into Nice on Sunday, September 28, 2014. We are going directly to Aix-en-Provence from there. We are not renting a car at this point of the trip. Is the bus the best mode of transportation? Thanks!

No viable buses to Aix - trains are the only way - take an airport shuttle or taxi to Nice-Ville station and take a TGV to Aix - go to www.voyages-sncf.com or www.capitainetrain.com - advance booking to a specific train at a specific hour - if you are late for it nada refunds and you have to buy a full-fare ticket - ouch!
But build a lot of fudge factor time in for planes to be late, etc and you can save a lot by booking (in stone I think) weeks in advance. For lots of great info on French trains check www.seat61.com - great info on discounted tickets; www.ricksteves.com and www.budgeteuropetravel.com. Again no real bus options TMK. Now there may be private airport shuttles but not public buses as I take you to mean. |
There is a regional bus it runs several times a day, so depending on when you arrive you may be able to take it
from terminal 1. Bus Line 20 you can get a time table at http://www.info-ler.fr/en/services-t...le-sheets-n341 |
I find this link a bit clearer for the bus to Aix:-

If the sketchy bus schedule fits your times then it would seem to be the best bet - since it leaves right from the airport - better than schlepping into Nice to catch a train and the bus overall then would be quicker - just that it only runs a few times a day it seems.
