transportation from milan to genoa

What is the best form of transportation and the time frame from Milan to Genoa, other than flying. Or is there another major airport closer to Genoa?

Train will be best. 1:32. About hourly ICPlus or EC service.

There is an airport in Genoa itself. I flew into it last summer, and it was a quick and cheap ride (3 euros) into town on bus 100.

I took Alitalia from Milan, in case you're wondering.

Lived in Italy for 16 years...take the train, faster and easier. 100 minutes on a fast train. It could take that long to get to Linate or Malpensa airports if there's traffic.

thanks for the info. My husband works for airlines and the standby flights to genoa do not look good from anywhere, we are trying to decide if we want to risk trying to get to genoa (via other transportation than fly) for a cruise in july. I'm thinking we need to hurry up with a decision.

If your cruise leaves from Savona (our cruise info said Genoa meaning Savona!), I would recommend getting on the train from Milan and heading straight to Savona, then grabbing a taxi from there.
