Transportation from Messina to Taormina question

Hi everyone,

First time posting here. Hope someone can help.

We are going to be in Messina in June and want to go to Taormina. Is the train the best mode of transportation or should we hire a private driver for the round trip? We do not want a private tour just a drive to and from.

Thanks in advance,
sabi

Direct buses would be more convenient than the train as buses i think would go up on top of the hill Taormina is perched on and trains deposit you way below town on the seaside then you'd have to taxi or bus up.

But the train is easy and cheap and run often.

if he you are on a cruise the best way is booking a taxi from the dock to Taormina( also because the train for taormina doesn't arrive up in town and take from 50 up to 1.20 minutes to arrive)
a good taxi company is http://www.sicilylimousineservice.com/sicily/index.htm
Taormina is really charming I am sure you will love it

There are public buses that do that route. You can get some buses that go to the top, to Taormina, or some buses let people off down by the sea where the cable car is. I can't remember the name of the town but if you can find out where the cable car to Taormina runs from, that is where you need to get off the bus. It's fun and easy.
