transportation from Lake Como to Venice
Has anyone found direct transportation or a car service so that we do not have to go from Lake Como to Milan and then Milan to Venice. We are traveling by train but are not opposed to a bus. Also, any car service from the airport in Milan to Varenna on Lake Como?
Thanks for your help. |
I'm confused. You want a car service but say you're traveling by train. Which is it?
Do you object to changing trains in Milan? Are you willing to change trains any place else such as Verona, Bergamo, etc.? Please clarify. |
The fastest train itinerary between Varenna and Venice is through Milan. There would be a shorter itinerary through Lecco, Bergamo and Brescia but it would involve multiple changes and take much more time. I do not know about buses.
Due to the geography of the region, the any fast route between Malpensa and Varenna involves a ferry crossing. Going by car need long detours. |
If you hate train rides, you can book a taxi transfer from MXP to Varenna for about 300 USD (for up to 3 people).

Have you bothered to look at a map? I've done Varenna to Venice numerous times. You have to travel south to get to the E70 and bypass the mountains, no matter what mode of transport. It's much easier, safer, cheaper, more predictable, and more convenient to go by train.
