Transportation from CIVITAVECCHIA Port to ROME

Hello,

My family and I are leaving for a cruise on Princess next week and one of the ports is Civitavecchia (Rome). My family and I have done Rome extensively in the past however we wanted to travel there on our own instead of paying Princess' $200 charge per person for a tour. Does anyone know the best way to get from the port to Rome-Vatican area?

Any assistance would be appreciated.

Thank you in advance.

Try pricing limoservicerome.com

I arranged this for relatives, and they were pleased with the service.

(NOT limoserviceSrome.com which has had negative reviews.)

Golfer - The going rate for a limo or taxi transfer is approx € 130.

There is a regular train service from Civitavecchia. Most trains stop at Roma S. Pietro, close to the Vatican.
Fare: approx € 4.
Journey time; about 50 mins.

Hope this helps ...

The entrance to the Civitavecchia port area is an approximately 10-minute walk to the train station. Your ship may be docked some distance from that entrance, but if it offers free transportation to the entrance by all means take that and then walk to the station.

Taking the train is an easy way to save money for this excursion and is easy to do. There are ticket machines at the train station and the folks at the ticket window are also very helpful.

Thanks to all for the awesome information. We will most likely do the train. We have traveled the train in Italy before and it very accessible and easy to use, except Termini Station can tricky sometimes.

We have disembarked in Civitavecchia before and took a taxi to the train station from the ship. The cost of was 10Euros per taxi about 2 years ago. That is much easier than dragging the luggage from the gate. We never had a bus provided by Princess. Hope this helps and have fun!
