Transportation From CDG to Hilton Paris

2 travelers, probably too much luggage. What's the best way to get to the hotel?
Also, what cool stuff is around this hotel?

There are two Hiltons in Paris (that I am aware of). I stayed at the one near the Eiffel Tower, which is very convenient. The hotel itself is a sixties era monstrosity. As I was soaked by a "nice" man with a minivan at CDG, I can't offer any advice in the transportation arena.

We stayed there (the one by the Eiffel Tower) a few years ago and the rooms, by Paris standards, are a decent size. Especially with luggage, I'd opt for a cab.

That area of the 7th is very nice, if not a bit to quiet for me.

Of course the "best way" to get to the hotel is by taxi. There's no special company whose name you need to look for, just go to the official taxi stand line, that's all, and those will be official cabs (the "taxi parisien" sign is not a company, just what most official cabs have on top).

I think 40 euro is probably close to the cost outside rush hour or special fare periods--maybe 45-50 is possible, with a 10 pct tip. Of course they charge for luggage, but so what, it's not a big fee, just under one euro per bag.

The Hilton is in the 15th, but that is not the farthest point from CDG there, as the Hilton is just over the border from the 7th near the Eiffel Tower. I think Madeleine doesn't know where the Hilton is to have said that.

This is an obvious answer -- if you ask what is the "best", you are just going to have a tradeoff between people who value time and convenience over money, obviously. This is really the same issue in every city I've been to -- do I want convenience and ease or to save a few dollars. You have to decide for yourself, but the choices are about the same anywhere you travel -- taxi vs. public transport (bus, etc) vs. shuttle vans. YOu will save maybe US$10 total between the two of you taking a van shuttle instead of cab as they are about 17 euro per person.

What's cool around the Hilton? I don't think of it as being cool around there exactly -- it's sort of cool to be able to walk across the Seine on the bridge right there. Champs de Mars is a pleasant park, also.

Hilton is on avenue suffren thank you Christina.
I used to live on bvd de grenelle for your info.
I was referring to taxis in peak period & there is no way that you will get there for 40 dollars / euros from the airport.

Strange to say whatyourname, but we taxi to the 7th very near the Hilton and it has been approximately 40?. It could be more but not because of the distance.
Here we go again... I cast my vote for Parishuttle. In October, we paid - two people w/ one large piece each and three (total) carry on pieces - 30 euro. I didn't tip. I HATE tipping.

If you are interested - e-mail Mark @ Parishuttle.com. Rita
Rita, it's good the shuttle didn't leave without you like what happened to us. Then they told us to wait for another half an hour. No way-we were overtired from an 11 hour flight. We got fed up and went back upstairs and took a taxi. Cost was 45 euro including baggage for three of us. Would take a taxi always-never a shuttle. Another thing with a shuttle is that you risk taking the "city tour" if there are others than yourselves sharing that shuttle.

So basically, if I want to get right on out of the airport directly to my hotel, then I should take a taxi.
I'm not particularly fond of waiting for a shuttle either, especially after an 11 hour flight. I would do it though if it was an efficient means of travel.

Jen, yes, the taxi is the best way to go. Granted that the shuttle, if you make a reservation, is supposed to meet you at a designated stop. But if you are a few minutes tardy, the driver just leaves and says you didn't show up.

Why go through all this trouble and have the chance of sharing your shuttle with other passengers? A taxi is solely yours.

As for going back to CDG all hotels that I've stayed at offers to reserve your taxi on the departure day. You reserve it the day before you leave. I've heard that some people who made arrangement for a shuttle to pick them up to take them back to the airport were either delayed because the driver didn't show up, was late, or again, they had to share the shuttle with other passengers thus spending time going around to pick them up. If your schedule is tight, you may miss your flight or come close to doing so. Forty-five euro is the average taxi fare; a shuttle is not much less if even that.
I just read Madeline's complaint of not paying only 40 euro for the taxi fare. We took the taxi during the morning rush hour and the afternoon rush hour and never paid more than 45 euro. We were 3 passengers.

Rita, did you ever figure out that the reason why you paid 30 euro for the shuttle is because it was only two of you-looks like it's 15 euro/person. If it were three of you it would be the same fare as the taxi-45 euro. So given the choice we had: shuttle for three or a taxi for three, the taxi wins.

I take taxis all the time from CDG to hotels in the 7me and the reverse. The normal fare is about 35-40 euros. If there is unusual traffic or an accident, it can go up to as much as 55-65, but that's very much the exception to the rule.

Take a taxi, Jen, a Taxi Parisien.
