Transportation from Bellagio to Stresa, Italy

Does anyone know if there is another way to get from Bellagio on Lake Como to Stresa on Lake Maggiore besides renting a car and driving? I thought I read somewhere that there is no bus service. When we go to Bellagio we would also love to see some of the sights around Lake Maggiore, but renting a car and driving there does not thrill me. Does anyone have any information ?

Hi TL - It's a longish journey by train via Milan - 2hrs 45' each way.

You'd need to take an early ferry from Bellagio to Varenna.
The 07.37 train from Varenna (- via Milano Centrale) gets you to Stresa at 10.17.

Hope this helps ...

Steve

It's such an easy drive - why wouldn't you want to do it?

Actually, there is also a boat tour from Lugano---bus from Menaggio---that connects with a bus to the east side of maggiore and then a boat to Stresa. But, it may be expensive and may not run often. Check the Lugano Tourism site.
