Transportation from Airport
 

Hello,

I am looking for your wise suggestions regarding the best way to get to our hotel, Ramada Tour Eiffel (please, please tell me something positive about this place) from CDG.
From what I've seen I have 4 options:

1. Take RER to St Michel to metro 10, Cluny/Le Sarbonne (is that possible?) to Le Motte Picquet Grennelle

2. RoissyBus to Place de'l Opera to metro 8, to Le Motte Picquet Grennelle

3. Air France Bus to Montparnasse to metro 7 to Le Motte Picquet Grennele

4. Taxi

Which one is the best option (besides taxi of course)?

The best way for you depends on several factors:

Amount of luggage.
Your price sensitivity.
Your ability to cope with a foreign language in an unfamiliar location.
How well you function when jetlagged.

The more luggage and the less you can cope, the less successful you will be on public transport, but you save the most money that way. Can you do stairs when fully luggaged up?

Taxi is the most expensive but is door-to-door. Use this with too many bags and too little coping. If there are more than one traveler, the cost per person falls and makes this the best way.

A close second or maybe a first choice would be one of the shuttle vans. The price is per person, and the door-to-door includes the doors of the others in your minivan, but for one or two people the cost is reasonable compared to taxi (which costs a little more) or public transport (costs a little less).

The hybrid method: RER or Air France Bus or Roissybus to the stop in Paris nearest your hotel and taxi to hotel, is feasible but not woth the hassle, in my opinion.

Wisdom is not necessary for posting on this board, by the way, but for what its worth, Mrs. AJ and I use a door-to-door shuttle booked in advance over the internet, because we are usually too jetlagged to cope with anything requiring more brains than a bush.

Option 2 is your best bet here. Cost for two people is around twenty euros, much cheaper than a taxi and more convenient than the RER

A Ramada is a Ramada. I can't qualm your fears about this place because I've never stayed in an American chain hotel in Paris and never will, but I suspect it will be fine, if you're expecting the usual Ramada amenities.

Take a taxi, It will cost you 50 euros but will be well worth the expense. I've made more than 65 trips to Paris in the last 25 years and except for a few trips where I was traveling alone and didn't feel too jetlagged and took the Air France bus, I always take a taxi - just to GET THERE AND BE DONE WITH IT!

You sound as though you don't know much about your hotel. How did you select it, and why?

We booked the tickets last minute for Thanksgiving and Ramada was the only option available for a triple on such short notice.
There are 3 of us traveling and we don't really have much luggage.
How much will it cost to take a taxi?
