Transportation - car or train from Granada to Ronda to Madrid
We are a family of 3 who will be using trains for most of our trip through Spain. Our last few days, we will be traveling from Granada to Ronda (for one night), then back to Madrid for a night before departing. I'm wondering about pros and cons of renting a car or using trains for this last leg. Any opinions?
Thank you in advance.

I don't believe there is a train to Ronda, so I would suggest a car. Driving in Spain is less difficult for Americans than most other countries. My wife loved driving there, and I've driven in Spain beaucoup times. I usually drop my car off at the main train station, as it's easy to get to.
Stop in Toledo if you haven't done so already.
Here's the Spanish train website.

There are three direct trains a day Granada to Ronda http://www.renfe.com/ - about two and a half hours journey time. Whether the time of the journeys suit you is another matter. I would suggest this a scenic journey. Car journey time, with no stops, will be similar, so it depends whether you have the time or want to meander your way.
There are two direct trains Ronda to Madrid at four hours(ish)- no one in right mind would make the car journey, if they had a choice, as you do.

We took the train from Ronda to Granada-very nice and then the bus from Granada to Cordoba and then train from Cordoba to Madrid. I would absolutely advocate a train from Andalucia to Madrid--otherwise its a long drive. But driving between towns would have been easier than the combo of bus/trains we had to use/keep track of.
