transportation between florence airport and train station
We are wondering what would be the best means of transportation from the airport to center of florence.
Take a taxi-- it's only about 3 miles from the airport to city center.
There's a bus every half hour from the airport to the train station.
thank You KY. You have been helpful on several occasions as I have planned my trip
I normally prefer public transportation over taxis, but in this case why would you want to wait half an hour for a bus instead of a taxi ride that takes less than 10 minutes?
Need to revive this thread...I have MANY questions!!
1) Which bus line/number would go from the airport to...lets say...the Duomo? 2) Where is the bus terminal in the airport (level or section)? 3) Do you buy the tickets (tokens?) on the bus or before boarding? and IF we considered the more expensive taxi option... 1) In general what would a fare be (Again to the Duomo)? 2) Are there certified cabbies to look for (Or ones to watch out for and never enter)? 3) Are fares negotiated ahead of time? Or is it more like NYC where you just get in and trust they will not take you for an extended ride? |
You are talking about Florence' regional airport and not the major international airport by Florence - at Pisa - that station has frequent direct trains to Florence Santa Maria Novella, where you can hop the tram to the Duomo (think the new tram is up and running but not sure).
Which airport. If flying Ryanair, the airport is in Piza. At least it was when we went. We took the bus (Travisa?) from the airport to the train station in Florence.
Oh dear. I meant the INTERNATIONAL airport, as we will be arriving from Germany. Thank you for pointing that out. Is the train or bus station a quick connection from the international airport?
Both are international. What is the name of the airport you are arriving to.

Aeroporto Galileo Galilei - Sito ufficiale - Aeroporto di Pisa ...
At Pisa International Airport you can always rely on our expertise and friendliness. Click here for shops and services in the Airport ... www.pisa-airport.com/index.php?lang=_en This is the major airport serving the Florence region but if coming from Germany it could also be the 'Florence' airport If Pisa the train station is right in the airport proper. |
jkbritt - We are going into Florence Peretola (FLR), which I woudl assume is the "Florence" airport you speak of.
Yes, that is Florence itself. Just checking to be sure which one you were going to. Makes a big difference if going to Galilei. Taxi or bus would work. Take a look at this: http://goeurope.about.com/od/florenc...irport-map.htm
