If you haven't already been to this site, check it out - lots of good info about public transportation in Munich:

http://www.mvv-muenchen.de/en/home/tickets/index.html

When we were in Munich, the vast majority of the places we wanted to go were withing the central zone - for ticketting purchases, Munich is divided into concentric circles. The only things outside the central zone that we went to were the airport and Freising.

So when we arrived, we bought the partner day ticket for all zones, which got us from the airport to the city center and then was good on everything the rest of the day. Then because we had arrived on a Sunday and needed transportation tickets starting on Monday, we were able to use the Isar Card weekly parnter ticket, which is valid Mon-Sun - we bought the one for the central zone only and then for the day we went to Freising we bought a seperate ticket for that.

There is no "isar card weekly partner ticket", you need separate "isar cards" per person and per calendar week.

2 rings 11.50 per week
3 rings 13.80
4 rings 16.40 (=inner area)

Cards are NOT available at ordinary MVV ticket machines. You buy them at a DBahn machine, special MVV touch screen debit card only machines or a newspaper stand. They show the MVV logo, if they sell tickets.

This will show which area corresponds to which ring:

The weekly Isar-Card is valid until midday on the following Monday not only midnight.
