Transport Strikes in Italy

I am not going until November but for those departing soon, here is the list from the British Foreign Office of anticipated strikes in Italy:

You are advised that there is currently a risk of unannounced wildcat strikes by transport workers in cities across Italy.
However, you should be aware of the following pre-planned strikes:
23/24 June 2005: 21:00-21:00 Rail and sea services
26 June 2005: 12:30-16:30 Alitalia pilots
26 June 2005: 12:30-16:30 Airport service staff
07 July 2005: 10:00-18:00 Air traffic control
07 July 2005: 10:00-18:00 Airport service staff
15 July 2005: 10:00-18:00 Alitalia pilots
18 July 2005: 10:00-18:00 Airport Service Staff
18 July 2005: 24 hour Alitalia Flight Assistants
6 September 2005: 12:00-16:00 Air Traffic Control
7 September 2005: 12:00-16:00 Pilots strike
18 September 2005: 12:00-16:00 Air Traffic Control Brindisi

Strikes in Italy can be frustrating, but some do get cancelled. In fact, all three of the strikes shown here for June were cancelled (23/24 June was three/two days ago).

A good place for current information on such happenings is:

http://www.seekitaly.com/news/from_roma.html

If you can read Italian, this site is the official posting of all planned strikes in Italy - even strikes that would have no discernable impact on tourists.

There is a "cheat sheet" here for decyphering the above Italian information for those who don't read Italian:

Good luck to all who are travelling to Italy. Knowing in advance to make alternative plans is one thing. Being caught by a wildcat strike is quite another. Here's hoping no-one's travels are interupted
