Transport from Vienna to Prague
My husband and I are going to be on a tour in October, and I mistakenly booked our flight home from Prague instead of Vienna. After researching many options, the best option I have found is to travel by shuttle from our hotel to the airport, however, because we have a noon flight, the company's I have been in contact with are very expensive, as we would have to travel "privately", leaving by 5:30 or 6::00AM. Does anyone know of shuttle services that are reasonably priced? Thankyou

No shuttle service between Vienna and the Prague airport is going to be cheap. Cancel your last night in the Vienna hotel and spend the night in Prague.
Or you can see if GermanWings has a timely flight from Vienna to Prague. http://www.flylc.com/directall-en.asp |
No possibility of leaving Vienna late in the day by train and staying over in Prague that last night? I see there's a direct train, 4:36 travel time, leaving Vienna arriving at 23:19. Get a hotel near the train station that night in Prague, take a taxi to the airport next morning. (Or subway + bus connection.)

Here's a recommendation for a service but it's expensive (IMO).
http://mike-chauffeur.cz/central-europe-trips I would take the train to Prague the night before and stay overnight in Prague. |
I agree with posters suggesting the train; this is too far a distance for a shuttle. We took the train from Prague to Vienna in May and it was straightforward.

Have you looked into flying to Prague and connecting with your flight - some airlines can offer cheap connections - call your airline and ask.
|
Have you investigated the cost of changing your return flight?

I'm with Jean.... how much to change your flight to return from Vienna instead of Prague? As much as I love Prague, I wouldn't spend the time and money just to fly home from there.

If you cannot rebook your flight, the option to leave for Prague one day in advance seems reasonable. There's convenient bus service between the two cities - studentagency.cz, departures four times a day from Praterstern (better to book in advance through their website) and I'd definitely go for that over than the train - more expensive, slower. Prague is a beautiful city, why not to spend there at least one night if the change of flights is impossible.

Thank you all for your replys and advice. Although the shuttle is most convenient, we may have to leave Vienna the day before and stay in Prague overnight. The tour company will not refund our hotel in VIenna. Again, thanks to all.
