Transport from Rome airport to Florence

We are four seniors staying overnight on arrival at Rome airport from Vancouver, Canada. We want to find transport with van and driver who will pick us up and drop us at our hotel in Florence. We are reluctant to take the train into Rome and then to Florence due to bags and some challenges in walking within the group. We expect a departure relatively early in the am from theairport hotel. Any suggestions that could help us. Our trip is in October. Thanks

Just got back from a repeat trip to Rome, and used this company: Tiberlimo.com. The owner, Andrea Santucci, drove us from FCO to Positano; Naples to Rome. He is reliable, careful, and delightful (!) company. He drives an MB van, and there was plenty of room for the four of us plus luggage. I know that his company provides transfers anywhere in Italy. Good luck!

Why not if doing a transfer go right from the airport to Florence and save a lot of bucks?

PalenQ makes a good point. Although not sure how much time/$$ you save with an intra-European flight for 4 people. Sometimes the short flights can be quite expensive.

Coming through FCO a few weeks ago, we made it out of the airport in record time. In fact, we were shocked at the lack of security on arrival. Departing is something else, so be prepared. All four us were practically interrogated and they searched all the bags of seemingly every customer. Leave yourselves lots of time!

Alitalia has flights from Rome to Florence and right now they are running about 100 Euro per person. In October they would probably be cheaper if you booked NOW. How late are you arriving in Rome? Might be worth your while to simply fly onward and stay IN Florence.

You can take a limo service from Rome's airport to the train station. RomeShuttleLimo has good prices, but even a taxi is a set fee of 48€ for four people including luggage.

Actually going to Florence may open up several flight options, as there are flights to Amsterdam, Paris, Munich, Frankfurt and Zurich, and any of these places could be a connecting point to a flight from Canada.

(Connections in Paris on Air France may be a bit unconfortable as flights to/from Florence use terminal 2G that is quite distant from other terminals.)

well though flying may make sense what I meant by my post was if you are going to do a car transfer from Rome to Florence why not just do a car transfer from Rome's airport to Florence - it may save $ and time - assuming there are such services.
