Transport from Rome airport to Civitavecchia
We are flying into Rome Fiumicino in late May, staying in Civitavecchia overnight before taking a cruise.
Can anyone recommend a car service from the airport to the port? I found two recommendations on here for Rome Cabs but their yahoo email address is no longer valid. I know a train into Rome and back out to Civitavecchia is the least costly option but not with luggage and a bad knee. The Civitavecchia hotel offers a shuttle service which would require a 4- hour wait at the airport. We'd like to avoid that! Thanks very much. |
Thanks to monicap's trip report, I found Rome Cabs' website. Looks reasonable but I welcome other recommendations.

I used this company to get from Fiumicino right to my hotel's doorstep.
http://www.romeshuttlelimousine.com Fast responses to enquiries via email. I actually booked a shared van shuttle with them for 28 euros, but since I was the only one arriving there, they sent a private car instead and honoured the same price, which I thought was fantastic. I also left my gloves behind in the cab, and when I called the company, they drove back to my hotel the next day to personally deliver the gloves. Amazing customer service, to say the least! They do go to the port too so do give their website a look. |
Thanks, mac, will check them out.

By train you would take the regional train from the airport to Trastevere station and switch to trains to Civitavecchia - for a few euros and frequent service.

Taxis are a set fee so from the airport to the port is 120€ (covers 4 people including luggage). Car services should be similar. You have to be sure to get an official taxi.
**The cars for the taxi service of the City of Rome are white and can be recognized by the sign "TAXI" on the car top and by the identifying licence number on the doors, on the back and inside the car.** ***ATTENTION: any other vehicle at the airport exit could be driven by people without a regular authorization of the taxi or of the rent service and the fee required could be superior or however different from the fee foreseen by Comune di Roma. We advice you to be suspicious of people, inside the airport, who propose transport services towards the city.*** Page 2 http://www.comune.roma.it/PCR/resour...uglio_2012.pdf The train (with change in Trastevere) is 11€. |
As mentionedin my first post, I don't think I can manage the train.
Thanks for the other suggestions. |
Hello,
as your transfer is in late may, if you are still looking for a reliable company for a private transfer from Fiumicino airport to Civitavecchia...I can reccomend you http://www.mycabinrome.com The service is professional and the driver speaks a very good english. Have a nice trip! |
The service is professional and the driver speaks a very good english.>
this is a one-person company - if see red kybourbon's warnings about hiring an unlicensed company and the need to have a white car with Taxi written on it. For all I know Luciano and Axim's car services are so licensed but kind of weird if only one driver? |
Not a clue. We're all set. Thanks to all for your replies.
