Transport from Cologne/Bonn airport to Cologne Center
I'm arriving into Cologne/Bonn airport tomorrow and want to get to the city center, probably the main train station, using public transportation. I'm searching on-line but having a bit of trouble figuring things out. I will be landing in terminal 2, and had planned to take a bus. Any thoughts on how I should do this for those of you who have done this before?
Thanks. |
I was in Cologne for a day last October. I took the train to the airport.
When I researched it, I thought that there was a bus running, but then, I could have been told that the bus no longer ran -- or that I decided that the train was more convenient. You could get transportation information by looking at the Cologne airport website. The train ride is about 20 minutes, if I remember right. You can get schedules on bahn.de: http://reiseauskunft.bahn.de/bin/que...6&OK#focus (In fact, 15 minutes?) |

http://www.koeln-bonn-airport.de/mai...mp;anchor=bahn I don't see a bus to Cologne city center anymore, but the train is very convenient. There's some walking involved, if I recall, though, and I was momentarily confused after leaving the train when I had to find how I could get to my checkin counter. |
Thanks very much; I e-mailed Cologne's tourist office as well who mentioned the train. Maybe the bus is out of commission.

No, there used to be a bus to the central train station, but since they opened the rail link a few months ago, the bus has been scrapped (I think). It's fairly straightforward - just find your way to the train station, and in two stops you're in downwtown Cologne using the S-Bahn (suburban train).
There are still local buses, and a bus to Bonn. |
