translation from French to English, sil vous plait!
I am planning on framing a photo I took in Paris recently. It's of a store window with the following painted on it (minus the inverted triangles and accent marks, that is):
Fete des meres 1 sac offert* pour tout achat de ligne exclusive *shopping reversible 2006 voir conditions en magasin I neglected to find out what this means and I am positive my family and friends will ask. Can you help me out, please. TIA, The |
Hi Tia,
It means that if you buy a product (ligne exclusive, never heard of that) you'll get a free shopping bag. It is a mother's day promotion. :-) hope it is clear! |
That's the general idea...
Fete des meres is Mother's Day. *voir conditions en magazine means see conditions inside the store. Ligne exclusive is "exclusive line". |
You can always add that Mother's day in France is tomorrow (last Sunday of May)so your friends will see you know everything about French customs ;-)

Mothers' Day
1 free bag for every purchase of exclusive products * reversible shopping [bag] see conditions [posted] in store |
I'd be hoping the free bag contained free (and welcome) products. I can imagine my mother's reaction on being presented with a shopping bag (and a promotional one at that) to mark her maternal status. I suspect the phrase "game of soldiers" might have come into it somewhere...

Thank you all so much. Merci, merci beaucoup! I Googled to try to answer this myself and wasted a lot of time. Should have turned to you guys in the first place.
