Transfers from Madrid Airport?

My friend and I are travelling on a Gate 1 tour of Spain in March. Our Delta flights were changed by the airline so now we will arrive a day earlier in Madrid before the trip begins. What options are there for travelling from the airport to our hotel, the Hotel Agumar, Paseo de la R. Cristina, 7, 28014 Madrid?
Are taxis expensive in Madrid?

The good news is that the airport isn't too far out, so that helps with the taxi cost which isn't that bad. But last time I took one, I think it did cost more than I thought, but not bad compared to other cities. With someone to share costs, it isn't bad at all. I think it was around 25-30 euro.

There are airport shuttle group vans, I used Aerocity last time and it worked out great

I use that to arrive as I'm never in a big hurry and don't have a deadline. I use a taxi to go to the airport to leave. I think Aerocity is still cheaper than a taxi for 2 people, but not a whole lot. I didn't book in advance but booked Aerocity upon arrival, even though you save a little bit if you pre-book. I wanted to check it out and see how long they said I'd have to wait to leave.

In fact, your hotel isn't that far from Atocha train station, you could probalby walk if you don't have much with you and the weather is good. There is a city bus that goes to Atocha, I believe, but I don't know the details.

You can take the express bus to Atocha station and walk from there if you want to save a few euros on a taxi. But after a long international flight, the taxi is quicker and more relaxing.

The good thing about you hotel's location is that you are not that far from the best location for casual dinining in the city (

The hotel is not in an exciting area of Madrid, a little far from tourist interest spots so ask at the hotel for bus number to take you to Plaza Mayor area. you will need to walk to Atocha train station -about 10 mins and then uphill-another 15 minutes!
Take a taxi the first day, then you can judge if indeed you can make the walk to the center.
