Transferring five from Fiumicino

We leave for Rome soon and need advice on transfers from Fiumicino to Rome. Last year (my first time to Rome and only my second time to Europe) we went on a package through Alitalia and transfers were included.

I'm certainly aware of using the legitimate, metered taxis but will all five of us (two adult-adults and three nearly-adult "children") and our one suitcase/one carry-on per person even fit? It seems like we'd need two taxis so perhaps a "limo" would be more cost efficient. I am concerned about excessive cost AND about being tired from the flight so I don't want to consider taking the train in (although we will likely take it on our return).

Suggestions please from those who are familiar with the situation, recommendations for specific companies, and estimates of how much I need to budget.

Thanks,
Linda

I would consider one of the commercial limo services, which can arrange for a minivan on specific request. There may also be a few minivan taxis available, but would not count on it. FYI, the train to Termini Station costs 8.80 Euros each, or 44 Euros total; so a limo makes sense.

Just be careful they don't overcharge you. We were exorbitantly overcharged by the limo service on our return.

Another vote for Limo Service Rome. I used them to pick me up from the airport, as well as to drive me to the airport for my return flight. They were very upfront about the charges, and even though they picked me up at the hotel at 7am on the day of departure, they still only charged me their "regular" rate. Drivers were pleasant, courteous and helpful.

Buon Viaggio,
BC
