TRANSFER FROM TRAIN STATIONS
 

Hello! Could someone kindly tell me which is the best way(excluding taxi ride) to the city center-Grand PLace from the Bruxelle
midi train station. Also, does the train from Brussels to Bruge departs from this same station?
and Last, once a get to Bruge by train , can
I walk to the city center or should I look also for transportation , how far is the station from the center? Thanks.

Can you arrange your train ticket to arrive at station Centrale rather than Midi? Centrale is a quick walk from the Grand Place.

Otherwise, if not using a taxi (which will only be 6-7 Euro), then there are trams and a subway, but I have not used them.

You can go to Bruges from Centrale station. Look at times/route on this rail site:

The walk from the Bruges station to the medieval center is enjoyable, about 15-20 minutes. Step outside the train station and walk out to the main road. Cross over, veering to a street on your left - you might be able to see the church steeples. You walk along this street, enjoying the architecture of the homes, and soon enough you will be able to tell where you are. There will probably be other people heading out from the train station, too. I highly advise finding a map somewhere to help you get oriented.

I belive the thalys train only goes to
the Midi station.
I'm staying at the Le Meridien , so the central station is accross the street, which is great on my way to
Bruge. Thanks.

Both the gare du Midi and Central are on the subway, but there is one change of lines.

It's really easy, it's only about four stops on the tram line from Midi to the stop nearest the Grand Place (Broukiere). There are trams all the time, several different lines between those stops, so it's no trouble at all. They have a tourist info center in the gare which can give you a map if you want. They also have machines on the wall where you can buy metro/tram tickets. They have a daily pass that is pretty cheap.
