transfer from heathrow to luton/stansted
 

Has anyone done these transfers? Do you have any tips/tricks?

Hundreds make the transfer just fine. &quot;<i>Do you have any tips/tricks?</i>&quot; Just leave PLENTY of time between flights. I'd want a <u>minimum</u> of 5 hours for Stansted and 6 hours for Luton -- and more would be better.

The low cost airlines are very strict about advance check in. You must be checked in by their cut off time - not just be in the line to check in.

We have about 10hrs in between. Would it be worth hopping into London?
We travelled with ryanair two years ago, and were able to check in just one hour before the flight left. Is it still the same

Newspaper articles have reported problems with Ryanair staffing levels. If you get there one hour before, you will likely join a long lineup. You need to be checked in 40 minutes ahead of time at Stansted, and if you are in the queue at the 40 minute mark, you are out of luck. Then even if you do get checked in at the 40 minute mark, you have to get through security, and many people have missed their Ryanair flights due to long security lineups.

So if I were going to take another Ryanair flight, I'd aim to be at the airport no later than 2 hours before.

If all goes well, I think you will have time to see something in London, if you want to drag your luggage around (you could store it at Victoria Coach Station, I think, but that will take time putting it there and retrieving it). My experience with Heathrow is one of such delays that I can't be optimstic when I hear of people trying to estimate times.

My parents and I had 10 hours in London with a Gatwick-Stansted transfer. We stored luggage at Victoria (6&pound; each piece), and then have about 5 hours to walk around London before catching the Terravision coach (give yourself a lot of time if you decide to take this cheapest bus).

Your transfer is for different airports, but the timeframe isn't too different.

And yes, Stansted was a mess. Be there 2 hours before flight time.
