tranportation around St.Petersburg... ?
Hello! I would like to know, how much is to
hop on trams and buses ? I would like to use both, when tansfering from hotel to see
like the cathedrals and museums...etc. My hotel is very close to Nevsky Prospect. (the novotel)
Also, is there a bus or tram # or line that would cover the prospect from one end to other...
Do I need the exact cash ?
Can I buy tickets from the driver?
are there certain areas I should avoid, near the prospect and around the museums?
Are the summer gardens safe to walk around during the day. I was planning to visit them
after my visit to the spilled blood church,
since it looks like the are close to each other.
Any help, would be appreciated.
Thanks.
Thanks.

A number of buses will take you along Nevsky Prospect, starting from the Admiralty end, among them 1, 5, 7, 10, 14. 17 & 22. They all will take you as far as Moscow Train Station, Pl Vosstanija, then they go in variuous directions, 1 & 14 will take you Pl Alexander Nevsky and further. I forget how much a ride costs. Each bus has a fare collector and will give change for small bills.
I have never had any problem with walking around in St Petersburg. Watch out for the gypsies along Nevskey, drunks, and pickpockters in crowds, doorways and metro. I found that walking was one of the best ways too see the sights of St Petersburg, try to get a map the has both English and Russian or just a Russian one as street names are usually in Russian
