Hamam in Istanbul, Antalya or other
I would like to try a Haman somewhere on my trip to Turkey. Will be in Istanbul, Goreme,Selcuk, Antalya. We will be driving from Selcuk to Pamukkale and spending time on coast south of Fethiye before Antalya. Would like something more traditional rather than touristy spa like. Thanks

You aren't getting much of a response so I'll throw in my 2 cents. We went to a Haman in Ephesus - it was a blast. I can't really comment on traditional vs. touristy but the one we went to was far from being a high end spa. We were the only clients there. For a very funny article on hamans, google "Arse about Fez" and read the Home Sweat Home article. Enjoy!

My friend did a turkish bath in Istanbul. She thought it was great. Her husband would not go with her, and I doubt I would either, since the idea that "they wash you" (as she described it) just creeps me out. But if you'd like, I can get more details.

Although I didn't write down the name of the hamam I visited in Antalya, I can offer the following ideas, with absolutely no guarantee of what kind of experience you would have at them:
I had considered visiting the Elis Kapadokya Hamam in Goreme, but it didn't end up suiting my schedule. http://www.elishamam.com.tr
The hamam I had originally planned to visit in Antalya was the Sefa Hamam. http://sefahamam.com/en/ (That's the one that didn't have a woman on duty when I arrived, and when I declined, the man took me to the one I did use.)

I can recommend this place in Istanbul:
http://www.cemberlitashamami.com/
The building is ancient and it's not overly touristy. The one I visited in Bodrum was more authentic, and no other tourists the day I was there.
