Trains or planes?
I'm finding information for transportation confusing. Is it me?
My itinerary is: Munich to Salzburg by train Salzburg to Mittenwald or Fuessen by train Fuessen to Rothenburg by train Rothenburg to Bamberg by train Nurenberg to Berlin by plane Berlin to Dresden by train Dresden to Prague by train Prague to Vienna (train or plane?) Vienna to Athens (plane - which carrier?) scooting around Greece (Peloponessos)by bus Athens to Rome or Bari (plane or boat?) scooting around Italy by train Venice to Munich (train or plane)? Is this too much moving around for 2 months? Should I be getting a Eurorail pass? If so, which should I look at? just Germany and Italy country passes? 3 country pass? Should I be flying more? |
go to www.railsaver.com and type in your itinerary and it will inform you as to the correct pass to purchase.

Go to www.skyscanner.net for all the budget air possibilities provided there are any.
You might seriously consider the train from Nurnberg to Berlin and also Venice back to Munich by train (great scenery if you take the Brenner Pass route). You are aware that there are checked luggage weight restrictions on flights within Europe, right? Usually 44 lbs max and with some carriers even less. |
Go here to check just about any rail schedule in Europe

Use Venezea for venice

Seems you may benefit from a Eurail Select Pass good in Germany, Austria and Italy. Use it for your long-distance inter-region trains in Germany (use the bargain Bavarian pass in Bavaria which many of your first places falls in) - buy point-point Dresden-Prague - but you have several very long and potentially very expensive train trips so strongly look at the pass.

Railsaver is AMAZING. Thanks so much. Now I'm checking for cheap flights. I love planning trips. (especially when I'm doing it during the work day. haha)

check www.whichbudget.com in addition to Dukey's site for budget airlines serving any two cities, if any!
