trains in spain
Working on train tickets from Granada to Madrid for a Spain trip in April- the Renfe site only lists afternoon times for april, but there are times all day in January. Will I need to wait for more times to appear because my april target date is too far off?
I know this is far in advance but I like having things squared away. |
Past posts from Maribel (and other experts on Renfe, ) suggest the company releases some
train date and times later in the year. Keep checking. |
This is a very reliable source of information for train travel, pls read the section "When does booking open"
https://www.seat61.com/train-travel-in-spain.htm Hope this helps provide some clarity. |
The direct morning AVE Granada dp 6.55 - Madrid ar 10.26 can be booked..
https://www.thetrainline.com/ The next onbe leaves at 3pm |
Thanks for the suggestions, will keep looking. Would rather not leave too early. Late morning departure right now is the cheapest so will wait for more times to be released for April.

WIth train 2087 coming from Almeria (not yet loaded) you will loose the whole day

Thanks everyone for your helpful comments in this thread. I’ve booked all our hotels and one-way city to city trains for our trip to Madrid/Andalucia in April. Just finished reading For Whom the Bell Tolls. Looking forward to the trip.
We are going to take some day trips during this trip (e.g., Granada-Malaga, Madrid-Segovia). Is it prudent to book those round-trip train tickets in advance also? Perhaps especially if it will be a weekend trip? Thanks again for your thoughts. |
You don't need to take a train to Segovia, there is a bus that drops you in the center near the aquaduct and the alcazar is less than a mile walk. The train station is out of town and you need a taxi or bus to get to the center. You choice. The bus is Avanzabus.com.

Thanks, that is very helpful!

In general, is it a good idea to book bus tickets ahead of time? I'm looking into also bus for Granada <-> Malaga because of few round-trip trains on the schedule so far.

Did you look at IRYO trains?
|
Thanks for the suggestion. IRYO doesn't appear to have any service in Granada, and I also looked at OUIGO and Avio. No trains from Granada to Malaga, those web sites all referenced a few trains only in the afternoon on Renfe.
