Trains in Italy,I need help!

I will be at lake Lugano. After that I will be traveling to Turin. How do I get to to Turin from Lugano? Is there a train? Can't find anything, so confused!
Is it better to buy tickets online?

Where are you looking but not finding trains? You can check schedules at www.trenitalia.com

Thank you!Somehow I missed it!
Do you think it's better to buy tickets online?

Nina_syr it's actually really difficult for most of us to use the trenitalia site. It's fine until we try to use a credit card then the site stops working. I wou,d suggest that you wait and purchase the tickets in Italy.

"Is it better to buy tickets online?"
It all depends on which of these situations is better for you.

The benefit of buying tickets online is (1) to have tickets in hand and not have to worry about them on vacation, and (2) to possibly get one of the discounted tickets available on a limited basis.

The benefit of waiting until you arrive in Italy to buy tickets is (1) that you can decide at the last minute (or perhaps a day or two ahead) when you want to travel, and (2) you won't have to change a ticket if your plans change, especially a discounted ticket which has many more restrictions than a regular ticket.

I bought tickets on trenitalia with an American cc last month and had no problems at all. I wanted to lock in mini fares and wasn't concerned about losing flexibility, but your circumstances will dictate what works best for you.

The website challenges of using US credit cards is a problem of the past. Trenitalia fixed this early 2011 so it should no longer be an obstacle.

When I tried the same booking as Nina I ran into trouble before even entering a credit card - it looked like a trenitalia website problem but I can't be sure.

ellenem has described well the pro's and con's of buying in advance. I'm a planner and penny pincher, so the cost benefit outweighs flexibility for me, most of the time. Everyone's situation is different.
