Trains from Tirano to other places in Italy

Does anyone know what other cities the trains from Tirano go to other than Milan? We want to go east - without going thru Milan (again) - and can't seem to find any city that comes up in the trenitalia website.

thank you!

Look at Sondrio--the only other town of note on that route.
Did you try Tirano/Bolzano to see what your get?

Nope trains from Tirano only go down towards Milan and though you could switch to sidelines to perhaps Bergamo, etc. if heading east it is quickest to go to Milan and switch i believe

Or you can check out the local buses that go from Tirano (south-most terminal of the Bernina Pass rail route) to Erdolo, where you can catch trains to Brescia i believe but that would take all day and there are but a few buses a day.

Thank you - I did. No Bolzano connection. Any other ideas? It's hard to beleive that the only place to go from Tirano is Milan - isn't it?

You can't go east, but you can go north/northwest all the way to Zurich on Swiss Railways. Depending on the train, stops/changes at St. Moritz, Pontressina, Samedan, Chur.

From Chur, you could take another Swiss train to Venice that stays north of Parco Nazionale della Stelvio with stops/changes (depending on the train) at Sagliains, Zernez, Malles, Merano, Bolzano.

From Chur, you could also take an Austrian Rail train to Innsbruck and then south through Brenner to Venice.

Obviously both of the options through Chur are long and slow, but you'd certainly see a lot of beautiful scenery.

As Palenque said, you can take a bus from Tirano to Aprica:

http://www.busperego.com/ (select "Servizi di linea", then "Tirano Tresenda Aprica"

At Aprica you change buses (and bus companies):

The train from Edolo To Brescia is not a operated by Trenitalia, and does not show up on its site. Its operated by FNM, the timetable is here:

http://www.lenord.it/orari_e_news/co...5&ann_par=2009 (Select "Ramo Iseo", and choose Edolo and Brescia from the pulldown menu on right.
