trains from Barcelona

I hope someone can help me i'm tearing my hair out!!!! I'm going to Spain early September and flying into Barcelona, I'm staying on the Costa Brava in a resort called Playa D'aro. I'm having a nightmare sorting transfers out, it seems as if trains don't go there from Barcelona and the prices i've been quoted for private taxis are nearly more than my holiday cost!!!! Does anybody know an affordable way of getting there?? If so could you let me know, i'd be so grateful

Why not rent a car?

Best wishes,

Rex

I think your best bet is going in train to Girona and from there to Platja d'aro are 25 km so you can take a taxi which will cost you around 50 euros or take a bus in Girona , look at this website :

you should write or email the resort as i am sure there are buses directly from barcelona that go up the coast stopping at all the nice beach towns.

Bringing your post back up "to the top" since you are new here - - how do I know that? Click on your own name. This is a valuable tip that Fodors fails to give you when they send you that initial e-mail confirming your registration.

There are Sarfa busses from the airport to Costa Brava that run almost hourly.
Here is the link from Central Barcelona to Platja D'aro.

This is the bus you want just not the exact route. Ask at the airport information desk for the one from there.

I'm pretty sure you can train at least as far as Blanes but it would be easiest just to take the bus and not have to worry about transfers.

Take a Sarfa bus from Estació del Nord in Barcelona

I completely agree with alex2. The best and cheapest way to get there is by taking a bus from Estació del Nord in Barcelona.

There's a low-cost transfer service operating at BCN airport called Girotransfer who are a lot cheaper than the local taxis. You can email for a quote: [email protected]
Hope that helps!
