Trains

Is there a train station at the Airport in Rome that goes to Naples?

WallyKringen Mar 11th, 2006 08:03 AM

Yes, but via Roma Termini, the principal station in Rome, where you change trains.

See www.trenitalia.it - input Roma Aeroporto for departure and Napoli for destination. On the results page, click on the number in the first field on the left for details.

Thanks for your reply. I guess you have to go from the airport to Termini. There is no train connection at the airport. Am I correct?
Thanks

What Wally is saying is - there is a train station at the airport and you can get a train from there to Naples, BUT you have to change trains in Rome on the way.
In other words:
Airport to Rome
-change trains-
Rome to Naples

the first-class only Leonardo Express train goes to Termini from the airport - a second-class train goes from the airport to Tiburtina station - both Termini and Tioburtina have trains to Naples. The second class commuter train is cheaper but dumpier and i've seen warnings about thefts on this train. That said there may be trains to Naples that serve Tiburtina and not Termini - but usually there are two trains an hour Rome-Naples so no problems. Eurostar Rome-Naples and IC+ trains require reservations before boarding - make them at the airport train station rather than the oft zoo at Termini - IC trains also go hourly and don't require reservations but a ticket does not guarantee you a seat, though you can board these trains even if they are full - can't board ES or IC+ probably without a reservation, or if you do you may have to pay a high premium for doing so. WOW, thanks for all the info. I think I'll walk.

Yes, P. You have to go FCO to Rome TE and change trains for Naples.
