Trains

We are flying into Venice for 3 days...before continuing to Florence.
We want to take the train to Florence .
Which train do we take and where does it leave from , in Venice? Thank you.

It leaves from Venice - Venezia S. Lucia (the only railway station in Venice itself). Go to http://www.trenitalia.com/cms/v/inde...005817f90aRCRD for advice on train departure times (enter Venezia and Firenze for stations, not the English names).

There are several ways to do this on your own when you need to do this for other trains stations.

1. Google "Venice to Florence train" or "Venice train station".
2. Look at the map of Venice using Google map. You can clearly see there is only one big railroad station named Santa Lucia marked by a train icon. Click on that train icon lists www.bahn.de, ferroviedellostato.it, etc, as web link to find more about train connections. The www.bahn.de site is useful for any trains in Europe. Once you find out the name of the station, just google map it.
3. Look at a guide book.

Many people get confused between Venice Santa Lucia, and Venice Mestre. If you look at the Google map, it clearly shows where they are located, and you find out that Venice Mestre is no where in the Venice.
