Train travel in Switzerland

Jump to last reply

Hi All - I have spent hours reading through Fodor's and other travel sites and I am still completely confused regarding buying train tickets and passes in Switzerland. I am planning to spend 7 days in Switzerland in June. Here are my questions:

1) Can I buy swiss pass as soon as I get to Lausanne (that's my first stop in Switzerland) at a train station?
2) Do I need to buy ANY train tickets in advance? Can I just hop on and off using the Swiss Pass? Would it cover all of the following? If not, can I pay the remainder of the fare on the train using cash or a credit card?

Day 1 - Paris to Lausanne non stop train (can any type of swiss pass be used on the train from Paris to Geneva?)
Day 2 - Local trains within Montreux and Vevey
Day 3 - Scenic Golden pass train from Montreux to Wengen (I think this will require 3 changes?
Day 4 - Trip to Jungfrau from Wengen
Day 5 - Trip to Murren and Schilthorn from Wengen
Day 6 - Train from Wengen to Lucerne
Day 7 - Local trains in Lucerne and Weggis, Mt Pilatus
Day 8 - Lucerne to Zurich to Salzburg via Innsbruck

Please please someone answer these questions before I start pulling my hair out :(. Thank you so much!!!
