Train Travel from Vienna to Munich
We have 10 days to spend in Europe from June 4th thru June 13th. We will be arriving in Frankfurt on the 4th and need to be in Munich on the 13th for a business commitment. We would like to include Prague, Vienna and 3-4 days in Croatia (to see family, so that's not really negotiable). We are debating train vs. air travel, especially between Prague and Vienna and Vienna and Munich. Our tentative itinerary is as follows:
Arrive in Frankfurt morning of 6/4, connect via air to Prague.
Depart Prague by air on 6/7 for Zagreb.
Depart via train from Zagreb to Vienna on 6/11.
Depart Vienna for Munich via train on 6/13.
Is this an overly ambitious itinerary? Has anyone done the train trips from Vienna to Munich? Is it a nice trip and worth the extra time to take the train? Any suggestions for cheap airfares within Europe. Even my old standby europebyair.com has gotten pricey for our itinerary!
Thanks for any help!

I have done the trip between Vienna and Munich by train a couple of times. As I remember it is about six hours or so. Fairly pictureesque -- especially between Munich and Salzburg which you go through. Across Austria it is OK, but not fabulous.

Your fastest travel time from Wien West to München Hbf is 4 hours, 19 minutes.
the problem is you must leave at 6:14 am.
The next best tinmes are 4 hours, 33 minutes and one train leaves at 8:00
the other one at 16:00.
These connections require no changes.
there are plenty of 1 change connections that take about an hour longer.

Thank you for the helpful responses. Another option would be to take the train from Prague to Vienna. In terms of scenery, which would be better to take by train--Prague to Vienna or Vienna to Munich?
