TRAIN travel from Munich, Prague, Budapest, Graz and Vienna - Is this doable in 11 days???

Hello! My friends and I are planning to go to Oktoberfest in 2008, late September for 3 days and then want to visit Prague (2 days), Budapest (2 days), Graz (2 days) and Vienna (2 days). Are we CRAZY trying to plan seeing this many cities in 11 days and even more so, by thinking we can travel to each place by train?? Anyone who has any suggestions are greatly appreciated. Thanks.

Do it by train. Use the overnight CityNightLine from Munich to Prague and a regular night train from Prague to Budapest. Overnight trains will save you a day of travel and save you the cost of a night in a hotel room.

How many friends? Train cabins come in berth counts of 1, 2, 3, 4, and 6. You'll love it.

Pack light. You carry your own on the train.

I would drop Graz and add a day to Prague and Vienna.

If you want to cross the cities off your list and spend most of your times on trains the trip will work.

In 11 days I would do 3 cities - no more - if you really want to see anything.

Don't dispense with Graz too quickly. Clearly it is not in the "class" of the other cities but I truly enjoyed my time there because I felt I was in a town not nearly so impacted by tourism [except Austrian] as the others. The other 3 cities are probably "musts' but I am glad I went to Graz because I think it gave me a better feel for Austria.

ditto ditto weber6560.

Graz is one of the most interesting cities in Europe. The armory is world class. It beats any museum I have seen in decades of European travel.

A redux, beats any "historical" museum.
