Train travel from Milan, Italy to Chernitvsi, Ukraine

On February 18, 2013 I am traveling to Milan, Italy from the United States. I need to then travel from Milan, Italy to Chernitvsi, Ukraine and was hoping to do do by train. Does anybody know if this is possible. Please help, and thank you for your suggestions.

A quick internet search reveals that it takes 39 hours and up to 7 changes to travel from Milan to Chernovcy by train. Details at bahn.com - no idea of the price.

Or you can fly from Milan Bergamo airport with carpatair.com

Milan-Vienna by direct sleeper train, booked at www.fsitaliane.it from €39 with couchette.

Day in Vienna.

Vienna to Krakow from €69 or so in a sleeper on the direct overnight train, www.oebb.at

Day in Krakow.

Krakow to Lviv by sleeper, booked via agency www.polrail.com costs 204 zlotys ($69) in 3-berth sleepers.

Onward train to Chernitvsi, www.ukrainetrains.co.uk or the UZ website.
