Train Travel Advice

Hi there,

I visiting Europe this summer and need to know the best way to purchase trains tickets. My boyfriend and I are visiting Munich, Füssen, Strasbourg, and Paris. Should we go ahead and buy our tickets now? Or should we purchase them from the station when we're there? I want to get the best deal possible!

You get best deal point-to-point tickets by purchasing web discounts as soon as they are available for high-speed trunk lines such as ICE and TGV. Don't bother for regional "R" trains.

However, for you dates, the tickets are not available for purchase yet.
www.bahn.com for Germany. Right now, you can buy only up to the May 20th.
www.voyages-sncf.com for France. Right now, you can buy only up to the May 18th.

The advice you were given in the first answer to your first post still holds:

Are you aware that clicking on your name brings up your previous posts?

Will you land at Munich and fly home from Paris? Your itinerary may influence the choose of transport (plane, train, bus) and the kind of ticket.

This was not the same question that was answered in September. This is about the timing of point-to-point ticket purchase, which is what she's decided to do, following the earlier advice.

Munich to Fussen you would use the Bayern Ticket, buy the day of your travel.
