Train travel advance booking info required
Hello again,
With our trip getting ever closer, we would now like to make a few advance bookings for our Train transport between our destinations. We have been informed that making an advance booking is much cheaper than buying tickets on site.
We need a suitable Web site for making these bookings from Australia if possible.
The trips we will be booking are:
Amsterdam --> Brussels
Brussels --> Paris
Paris --> Geneva
Zermatt --> Milan
Any help greatly appreciated.
Thanks in advance,
Steve

Hi Steve
I do all our European train travel bookings from home here in Australia.
My advice would be to take a look at www.seat61.com The advice this guy gives is spot on, and he gives all the details you need for any trips in UK and Europe.
I print out his details for making bookings, and it's all very easy after that. Di

Hi Di,
Thanks for that tip - I have seen that site before but was only using it for very general info. Having had another look now I has given me the booking URLs I needed - bar one.
That is for the trip from Zermatt to Milan.
The reason is that we have a 15-day Swiss Pass so I am not sure of:
1. How much of the train travel is covered by the Swiss Pass?
2. When does the Italian component of the trip "kick in"?
3. Which Rail service do I need to use to book this trip, or do I need to use two services - www.sbb.ch and www.trenitalia.com - to book each leg of the journey?
If the answer is point 3, then where do I make the Swiss-Italy connection?
Thanks again,
Steve

According to this map your Swiss Pass will be valid to Domodossola (Italy).

If you use the speediest connection with one transfer in Brig, you must get the ticket for the remaining leg Domodossola-Milano.
If you have a bit more time to play with, and you like scenic train rides, you could go Zermatt-Brig-Domodossola, but change in Domodossola to the Centovalli line.

And go via Locarno/Chiasso to Milano.
For the 2nd option you'd need an additional ticket for Chiasso-Milano.
Either tickets can be bought via sbb.ch

Steve, if you get really stuck, I think you can email the ManinSeat61 with a question. I would think that you could buy a ticket through Swiss Rail that would take you through to your final destination, whether in Italy or elsewhere, but haven't done it in recent memory so can't be sure.
I'm sure someone on this forum will be able to help.

Have gone a lot and train a lot over there all your legs usually just hop regionals like a local to save money time and hassle.Pass unless training daily EVERY day on SLOW trains a lot saves little many surcharges especially factoring in shipping costs many CCs not taken from abroad also
seat61.com details Good luck!
