Train: Tours to Charles de Gaulle

I am trying to decide the best way to get from Tours to Charles De Gaulle. On the Deutsch Bahn site they give 2 options:

1.) 1hr. 39 min - I have to get off the TGV at Massy and walk to Massy Palaiseau which they estimate will take 5 min. Then I take RER B to the RER A. I'm worried about the walk b/c we'll have a fair amt. of luggage.

2.) 2hr. 7 min. - We get off the TGV at Montparnasse and then we have a 45 min. "transfer" to Chatelet Les Halles where we get on the RER A. I don't know exactly what the "transfer" is, whether it's a bus/taxi/metro.

My main concern is ease of travel with baggage. Thanks.

Use the SNCF site, and enter St Pierre des Corps as your startoff station. It's five mins by train, or sometimes bus, from central Tours to this suburban TGV station, and probably as fast by taxi from your hotel as the Gare d'Orsay clone in the middle of te city.

There are direct (albeit by TGV standards, slow) trains at least once an hour.

If you use the Deutsche Bahn website, you'll see the trains mentioned by "flanneruk". Just enter Tours as your starting point and Paris Charles de Gaulle as your destination. There are TGVs from St Pierre des Corps (just across the river from Tours) to the airport. If you're staying by Tours station, try catching an earlier train to St Pierre des Corps to allow more time to change trains, or just get a taxi there.

For example leave Tours 8:47, change at St-Pierre-des-Corps, leave there 9:51 ar airport around 10:30 - like others said you can leave Tours on an earlier 'navette' (shuttle train) to make the change at SpCorps more relaxed. No reason to take taxi as this would mean carrying your luggage farther from where the taxi drops you off then with the navette, which usually comes in right opposite the TGV platform - no stairs, etc. just have to move a few feet. TGVs of course have mandatory reservations; non possible on shuttle train.

Thanks for the advice. I will definitely take the navette to St Pierre des Corps. Everyone has told me that the TGV doesn't go directly to the airport, even from St. Pierre des Corps. But am I understanding correctly that the regular train does?

The TGV goes directly from St-Pierre-des-Corps to the CDG airport as in my above post - that was a TGV train for the times i gave - they go about every three hours.

The trains from St Pierre des Corps to Paris Charles de Gaulle are TGVs. You can see that from the Deutsche Bahn or SNCF web sites.

Hi La,

The TGV station is at CDG Terminal 2.

See http://www.aeroportsdeparis.fr
Click "dans l'aeroport".

Ok...I really didn't find a TGV directly to the airport from St. Pierre des Corps. If you click on the "details for selection" button on Deutsch Bahn it shows all of the trains stopping at Montparnasse or Massy. From there you have to transfer. Am I loca? I think I'm going to take the TGV to Montparnasse and then take the Air France shuttle #4 to the airport.

Yes loca - there definitely are trains St-Pierre-des-corps direct to CDG - if you want to go thru the hassle of changing in Paris do it and extra expense of bus, otherwise hop the direct train to airport like the 9:51am one i went to the bahn.de site and located - says on it TGV. the airport train does stop at Massy but it goes on to CDG.

Hi loca,

You can buy your ticket from St-Pierre-des-corps to Roissy (95), the location of CDG2, at www.sncf.com.
