Hi sumy,

I love using trains for transportation -- they're fun & easy.

However, I wouldn't make them a destination in themselves. Seeing Switzerland best will mean that you get off the train and get on top of a mountain, walk along a mountain trail, cruise an Alpine lake, sit in a mountaintop restaurant, etc.

Don't spend too much time sitting passively behind a window, watching the scenery glide by . . .

Let us know if you have any specific questions we can help with!

If you are talking about organised train tours I would suggest they are a waste of time. Use the excellent Swiss Rail web site www.sbb.ch/en and plan your own trips, then look at the many Swiss Rail passes that are available, do some costings and choose your pass. Remember that some offer more than reduced train fares, and even if you have no intention of visiting museums you never know what the weather might be like and as Swandav has siad come back with specific questions.
