I have been to Le Havre and not so long after it was wiped off the map - very sobering and very un-nicely rebuilt in a concrete mass IMO

TGV trains also go from Paris to St-Malo, a unique city on the coast that many would find preferable to Rennes and the drive from there to MSM along the coast would also be nicer.

They decided last night to start (after Paris) at St. Malo, and I hadn't had a chance to check train schedules to there - so great timing Palenque and thanks. I will pass along your other comments, too.

The centre of le havre and the docks were certainly given a pasting but they left some of the outer seaside areas. I spent a lot of my youth hanging out in Lehavre and found the "new" city centre awe inspiring. Sometimes you just can't have too much concrete and the cathedral is something else.
