train to Paris

I may be traveling in London soon and would like info on train service to Paris for a day or two.

Judy--you will want to take the Eurostar chunnel train. They leave quite regularly from Waterloo station and it is a high speed train. Do a search on this web site for "Eurostar" or "chunnel" and I think you will come up with a lot of info.

Judy -

I second the Eurostar. The plane may be cheaper but it's more hassle. And any other was just takes too long.

You should be able to find prices around $99US each way. It's worth it.

:-)

The Eurostar is the best option, 3 hours to Paris. Don't wait until you get to Europe to buy-the Eurostar station was the most expensive, travel agents in London were less expensive but it seemed like the way to go was reserving before you leave with Britrail or Rail Europe. Weekends are cheaper than weekdays and sometimes they run special weekend fares.

I agree - take the Eurostar to Paris. I did a day trip and had a great time. I bought my Eurostar ticket at the same time I bought a Britrail pass. The ticket to Paris is cheaper if you have a Britrail pass (which you have to purchase in the U.S.). My only problem was the taxi line at Gare du Nord train station in Paris was too long - I just started walking.
Martha

Speaking of trains to Paris, that just gave me a whole new idea. We'll be in Frankfurt for a while. What about taking a train to Paris from there? Does anyone know how long a trip that would be and could it be done as a day trip? I only have about 16 or 17 days and I feel like I'm trying to cram in the whole world...but, it's all so irresistible.
