Train to Hotel
In October we will travel from Berlin to Prague by train. Will there be hotel information at the Prague train station? Are there complimentary phones to call the hotels to check availability and location? Or are we better off reserving a hotel before we arrive?

there are some hotel-booking agencies in the main Prague train station - one of the most reputable of several booking agencies that have been in the station is AVE, on 2nd floor
([email protected]) ph (02)2422352 - probably don't dial the first 0 unless calling from inside Czech Republic. Open daily 6am-11pm.
You should have no problem getting rooms in October - apartments are the most popular - many right in city center.
I'm not endorsing AVE - i know little about them except they've been there for at least 15 years because i used them 15 years ago upon arrival by train in Prague. But can't vouch for their accommodations - just don't know but can always find a room they say.

I would reserve in advance. When you arrive at the station (probably Holesovice) you may find yourself beseiged by several folks hawking hotel rooms..a not uncommon practice. You can easily say "no thank you" and move on.
Some hotels will also offer a for-payment transfer service from the station or you can use a taxi or even public transport. However, be aware that when using trams in Prague there is, technically, an extra charge for pieces of luggage!
