Train to Cinque Terre from Milan-Best Route.
We are flying into Milan and then taking the train to Cinque Terre the same day. We have two options. We can take the train from Milan to Genoa and then catch the train from Genoa to CT or we can take the train from Milan directly to La Spezia and catch the local train to Manarola. I was thinking it would be easier to take one longer train ride to La Spezia. Any suggestions on what would be the best route or any other alternatives. Thanks in advance.

WE took the train from Milan to La Spezia and then to Manarola in May. It worked out fine and I liked taking one train to cinque terre area. If you are staying in Manarola check out Trattoria Billy's on the hill above town. Really great food and nice people.

If you have a lot of luggage, you might find navigating the train station at La Spezia a bit easier than Genova Principe. Otherwise, it makes little difference. I believe there are some connections from Milano that don't require any train changes -- but maybe not, and they might not be convenient for you.

Thank you for the great suggestions. We will definitely try Trattoria Billys
