Train tickets to Sevilla - purchase at Madrid airport or Atocha?

I am scheduled to land at the Madrid airport at 7 on a Friday morning in terminal 4S. I plan to purchase train tickets to Sevilla. I know there is a Renfe office in terminal 4. I thought I would take what appears to be an underground rail from 4S to 4, purchase my tickets and then take the Renfe cercanias C1 line to the Atocha station. Is this my best option or should I head directly to Atocha? Thanks

The morning departures to Sevilla do sell out. I would buy as soon as possible after landing rather than waiting until Atocha. If you are on your dime and can estimate the time you can get to Atocha, you can get a significant discount by buying online WEB ticket from www.renfe.com (if you can coax it to accept your CC. It is not that straight forward...) or via Raileurope with little premium.

The office opens at 8 a.m so I would give it a try once you are there.

There is now a direct bus service from Barajas airport to Atocha and that is the way to go. Details here.

greg - I finally decided to hold off purchasing tickets in advance so I wouldnt have to worry if my plane was delayed

lincasanova and TonyBishop - thanks for the info

cercania is from T4 only, every 1/2 hour....does not stop at other terminals.

The bus is easiest if you are not in T4 or prefer to go above ground. It leaves frequently from every terminal just outside and you pay on the bus.

The lines for tickets at Atocha are usually horrendous.

As the link I gave says, "There are (bus) stops at terminals T1, T2 and T4."

Thanks everybody - I will get to T4 as that seems the best way to buy my train tickets
