Train Tickets Perugia to Paris

Just purchase in Italy, or is there another option?

Thank you.

Fly to Rome with easy jet or vueling..in 2 hours you will be in Rome and train from there. Is much easier and cheaper.

kybourbon Mar 18th, 2011 07:04 AM

That's a long train ride (13-15 hours) which will involve a change in either Milan or Florence (a night train from Florence). Have you looked at the budget airlines?

I considered the same thing, but DW likes riding on trains and who am I to argue.

In our household, DW takes care of the little things--where we spend, where and how we travel, where we invest, etc. I'm responsible for the big important issues, like world peace.

So what buying tickets for this fiasco?

StCirq Mar 18th, 2011 08:09 AM

Do you have to do this in one fell swoop, or are you open to a couple of legs with stops in between?

I like riding on trains, too, but that's one looooooonnnnnggg journey!

Perugia to Firenze to Milano to Basel to Paris.

All the while maintaining an attitude of deference and civility.

It's that or sleep in the garage.

BigRuss Mar 18th, 2011 08:36 AM

Is the garage clean and comfortable? You only get so much time on vacation, why blow 15 hours of it on a train? Wife may like trains, she can enjoy the Perugia-Rome leg or take an hour out of your Paris time and ride the Metro for fun (she'll get over that love real quick).

Then night train from Florence to Paris and sleep on the way. You can save a bit with advance purchase of the Smart Fare on Trenitalia. You will need to book this ticket separate from your Perugia/Florence ticket to be able to select the sale fare in the drop down box. Similar Smart Fares are available for Milan/Paris also (Smart Fares can sell out).

>>>EuroNight Artesia 226/227: leaves Roma Termini at 18:20, Firenze S.Maria Novella at 21:33, Bologna at 22:31 and arrives in ParisBercy at 9:01.
Before departure obtain information on the best journey solutions and remember that if you buy tickets up until 14 days before departure you can take advantage of the SMART prices starting from 30 euro (prices vary according to the place chosen: seat in first or second class, couchette or bed).
PLEASE NOTE: International tickets may be bought on this site and picked up at the self-service tellers in the Italian stations only.

I don't get the Basel part.

I assume you are now talking about a series of short journeys as you progress toward Paris.

In other words, not the single Artesia tkt Milan to Paris, nor the Turin-Paris train, wh connects with Milan via a 55 minute short haul.

RonZ Mar 18th, 2011 11:35 AM

Gee...what a shame...I just checked and al of the trains are sold out this close to Easter--
except Perugia to Milano, flight to CDG...

tedgale Mar 18th, 2011 11:45 AM

I don't know what airline you are considering but if it is a major national carrier such as Air France, it may actually be cheaper to buy a return tkt and throw the second half away

Around Easter (April 13 departure, for ex.) you can fly Milan-CDG return for 41 + 53 = 94E. on Air France

The same flight same day one way on Air France is 494 E.

Of course, the discount airlines price quite differently.
